Use this plan to track new order notes you want to add and link into tasks.

How to Add an Order

  1. Duplicate Templates/Order.md into 30-Vendors & Contacts/Orders/.
  2. Fill YAML (vendor, status, key_dates, items).
  3. In related tasks, append — order:: [[<Order Note>]].

How to Populate an Order Note

  • Vendor & contacts: Set vendor and vendor_contact (name, phone/email).
  • IDs: Fill quote_id when quoting; set order_id when you place the order.
  • Dates: Update key_dates.* as events occur (ordered, ETA, shipped, received, installed).
  • Shipping: Add carrier, tracking, and ship to/from.
  • Items: Add line items with sku, description, qty, and pricing.
  • Status workflow: planning → quoting → ordered → shipped → received → installed → closed.
  • Stage: Set stage to when the materials are needed (e.g., roof=4, siding=5, after-build=6).
  • Link tasks: Add — order:: [[Order Name]] to any related task so it appears inside the order note under Related Tasks.

Backlog (Orders to Add)

  • Interior lighting devices (switches, receptacles, plates)
  • Interior drywall/finishes
  • Tools/rental (trencher, lifts) if tracked
  • Exterior doors and hardware
  • Paints, sealants, tapes
