Purpose
Called Terry at All American Concrete to discuss the driveway pour and surfaced a sequencing question: should the house-to-garage utility trench (sewer, natural gas, water) be installed before the driveway is poured?
Notes
Sequencing Question Raised
- Terry asked whether the utility trench should be done first
- Owner did not know — sequencing not yet decided
- Concern: if the trench crosses the driveway path or apron area, cutting/patching new concrete after the pour would be far more expensive and visually compromising than running the trench under prepared subgrade beforehand
- Terry recommended consulting a plumber to determine whether any portion of the trench install (sewer, natural gas, water) requires a licensed plumber and what the correct sequencing is
Plumber Referral
- Terry texted a contact for a plumber who would know
- Plumber: Brian McJames (see 2026-05-11 - Call - Brian McJames Plumbing and Plumbing Contractors)
- Action: call Brian to clarify (1) which utility lines require licensed plumber install, and (2) whether the trench needs to be in before the driveway pour
Floor Coating Referral — Still Pending
- Reminded Terry of the still-outstanding floor coating contractor referral (polyurea/polyaspartic recommendation he mentioned earlier)
- Terry still has not sent the link — owner awaiting text
- See 1. Terry’s Recommendation (TBD) - PRIORITY
Decisions
- Deferred: Driveway-vs-trench sequencing decision — pending input from Brian (plumber) on what work needs licensed install and what sequence is correct
- No commitment to driveway start date until trench sequence is resolved
Action Items
- Confirm with Brian whether utility trench must be installed before driveway pour — owner:: Owner — stage:: 6
- Confirm with Brian which portions of sewer/gas/water trench install require a licensed plumber — owner:: Owner — stage:: 6
- Follow up with Terry for floor coating contractor contact (still not sent) — owner:: Owner — stage:: 7
Timeline Impact
Previous Schedule
- All American Concrete previously indicated they can start utility trench work after May 1, 2026 (see Utility Trench Work)
- Driveway estimate received March 16, 2026 ($14,496.00, Estimate #7689) — no firm pour date
Updated Schedule
- Driveway pour now gated on resolving trench sequencing with Brian (plumber)
- If trench must precede driveway: trench install becomes the next milestone, then driveway
- If trench can be installed after: driveway scheduling can proceed independently

Next Steps
- Wait for Brian to return voicemail
- When connected, ask about trench-before-driveway requirement and licensed-plumber scope
- Update Decisions Log once sequencing is decided
- Update Timeline with driveway target once trench sequence is set
