Description

Kickoff frame for an 11-hour install day. Uncle Ed (older gentleman in the back, bending over the stairs) came over to help and stayed on the tools start-to-finish; this is the first owner-DIY electrical day in the build. Conor (owner’s son) in the foreground was the third pair of hands — primarily on the drill, boring stud holes for the romex chases with dad steadying the bit “just in case it hit a knot or kicked.” Carpenter pencil behind the ear is a self-portrait of the apprentice mindset.

Visible Elements

  • Conor (foreground): apprentice on hole drilling for the day; pencil behind ear, eye protection on, T-shirt
  • Uncle Ed (background): Bent over at the base of the stairs, sorting tools/materials; primary install partner for the day
  • Window (top left): West wall window — between this and the second west-wall window is the workbench-height outlet pair Ed installed later in the day
  • Stairwell (right): Stairs to the loft; toolbox and Klein bag staged at the base
  • VEVOR box (lower right): Materials staged for the day’s run

Why This Photo

Phase 1 of the owner-DIY electrical scope began today. This frame captures the people more than the work — it’s the human side of the Electrical Planning doc’s “DIY install” line item. Uncle Ed put in 11 hours alongside the owner; Conor contributed real work (not just shadowing) by drilling stud holes for the romex chases. The “documentation-grade” install shots came later in the day; this one is the family/uncle record that belongs in the permanent project log.
