West Wall — 16-Inch Outlet Boxes Along the Wall

Wide angle looking along the west wall — OSB sheathing on the closer wall; a blue 1-gang plastic box mounted to a stud at 16" AFF on the left foreground; diagonal stud bracing across the frame; the rear/north wall visible in the background with a window opening and a workbench-height 2-gang box partially visible at the corner; PVC pipe and offcuts on the concrete floor; some loft framing and stairs visible at far right

  • Weather: Clear, 82°F, 38% humidity, 9 mph SW winds. Bright daylight from the still-empty north window.
  • Phase: Phase 1 — 120V rough-in (DIY) — morning-after documentation
  • Location: Looking south-to-north along the west wall
  • Subject: The west wall’s 16” AFF perimeter outlet line (rough-in only — west wall circuit is not energized yet)

Description

Long view down the west wall — the only one of the three perimeter circuits where no workbench is planned, so all boxes on this wall are at the standard 16” AFF perimeter height. The blue 1-gang box in the left foreground is one of the boxes on this circuit; the chain continues along the wall.

In the background, the north wall corner is visible — the window and one of the workbench-height 2-gang boxes peek through behind the diagonal stud bracing. The workbench-height line lives on the north wall (planned workbench is the central north wall, with rolling tool cabinets going to the east toward the lift and stairs).

Rough-in state on this wall: romex pulled between boxes, no panel-side wire pulled and no breaker landed for the west wall circuit yet. This circuit also needs additional outlet devices — exhausted the on-hand inventory yesterday after fully populating the energized rear-wall chain.

Visible Elements

  • Blue 1-gang plastic box at 16” AFF (left foreground) — west wall perimeter circuit
  • Diagonal stud bracing across the frame — temporary lateral bracing during framing
  • OSB sheathing on the west wall studs (interior side)
  • North wall in background with window opening + workbench-height 2-gang box partially visible at the corner
  • PVC offcut + scrap on the floor — staged material
  • Loft framing & stair stringers visible at far right (east side of the garage where the loft stairs land)

Why This Photo

The lone overview shot of the west wall outlet circuit. Future-self reference for confirming that the west wall is intentionally all 16” AFF — no workbench-height boxes here because no workbench is planned on this wall.
