Description

A friendly midday distraction during the electrical work: a chipmunk wandered into the garage and spent a while darting back and forth through the open-ended PVC pipes staged along the base of the wall, treating them like a personal tunnel system.

The chipmunk is in the shot — perched at the open end of the white PVC pipe near the center of the frame, head up over the rim mid-exploration, with its classic dark-and-light dorsal stripes clearly showing. It’s small against the wide frame (easy to miss at full size; obvious in a zoomed crop), which is fitting — the photo captures both the visitor and its playground, the run of white PVC laid along the slab. Documented here as a fun moment from the build rather than for technical content.

Visible Elements

  • The chipmunk — perched at the open end of the white PVC pipe, center frame, dorsal stripes visible
  • White PVC pipe staged along the slab at the wall base — the chipmunk’s improvised tunnel run
  • Framed wall with OSB sheathing behind the studs; a diagonal brace running down to the floor
  • Electrical rough-in in progress: a blue 2-gang device box mounted on a stud, with yellow NM-B cable run horizontally along the framing (consistent with the ongoing 120V rough-in)
  • Concrete slab floor with assorted offcuts, a long cardboard fixture box, and a large gray cylindrical item (shop vac / large-diameter pipe) at lower left
  • Wood scraps and debris typical of an active work area

Garage visitors (2026-06-19)

Wildlife came to inspect the job site: this chipmunk made a tunnel system of the staged PVC pipes, and a little later the neighbor’s grey-and-black tabby cat wandered in, looked around a bit, and continued on its way. A couple of fun “animal moments” alongside the technical work.
