Photo Details
- Date: June 19, 2026
- Time: 1:15 PM EDT
- Weather: Clear, mild June day (seasonal high ~78°F; cooled to 60°F by late evening). Comfortable working temperatures inside the still-unconditioned garage.
- Phase: 120V electrical rough-in (in progress)
- Location: 309 E. 7th St., Clare, MI
- View: Standing roughly in the garage door opening, looking at the west wall (wider establishing shot)
Description
Establishing view of the west wall receptacle circuit during the 120V rough-in, shot from the garage door opening.
The dual-gang box at the near (left) corner is the GFCI feed point: the home run from the panel lands in this box, and from here the circuit continues “out and down the line” to the string of single-gang receptacle boxes along the wall. Wiring the GFCI receptacle here as a feed-through (panel cable on LINE, downstream cable on LOAD) lets one device GFCI-protect every receptacle downstream of it — the code-required GFCI protection for garage receptacles (NEC 210.8) covered at a single point per circuit.
Where the yellow NM-B passes across the studs it’s protected by 1½” × 3” 16-gauge steel nail plates (Oatey stud guards) so future drywall screws can’t hit the cable (NEC 300.4(D)). The white PVC staged along the slab base is the same pipe run seen elsewhere this day; staged tools and equipment sit to the right near the door.
Visible Elements
- Dual-gang GFCI feed box (lower-left corner) — panel home run in, circuit out and down the wall (feed-through GFCI protection)
- Line of single-gang receptacle boxes down the west wall at outlet height
- Yellow NM-B (12/2) cable run stud-to-stud
- 1½” × 3” steel nail/stud plates protecting the cable at stud crossings (NEC 300.4(D))
- OSB-sheathed framed wall, exposed (pre-insulation / pre-drywall)
- White PVC pipe staged along the slab base
- Concrete slab; staged tools/equipment on the right (red tool cart/jack, string trimmer, rolled material, cardboard)
