Description
Documentation of a Titebond construction adhesive case staged on the slab alongside framing hardware. This adhesive was applied between the upper floor joists and the subfloor decking as part of standard “glue-and-screw” subfloor installation.
Purpose & Application
Construction adhesive between joists and subfloor decking is standard contractor practice that provides:
- Squeak prevention – Primary benefit; prevents wood movement and rubbing against fasteners over time
- Stiffer floor assembly – Glued connection creates a more unified structural system
- Better load distribution – Helps transfer loads more evenly across joists
- Code compliance – Many building codes require or recommend adhesive for floor assemblies
- Manufacturer specifications – Subfloor panel manufacturers (AdvanTech, Weyerhaeuser, etc.) specify adhesive use for optimal performance
Visible Elements
- Yellow Titebond “The Pro’s Advantage” construction adhesive box (liquid)
