Description

View from inside the house basement showing two 1” conduits penetrating through the basement wall/rim joist area. These are the house-side termination points of the two conduits that SLS Electric ran underground from the garage. Light is visible through the conduit openings, confirming they are open and continuous to the exterior. A Romex cable is also visible running down from the penetration area. The penetrations are through the block wall just below the rim joist/floor framing.

Visible Elements

  • Conduit Penetrations:
    • Two circular openings through basement wall, approximately 1” diameter each
    • Daylight clearly visible through both openings (conduits are open/unsealed)
    • Located at the top of the block wall near rim joist
    • Penetrations are through the masonry foundation wall
  • Wiring:
    • White Romex cable running down from penetration area
    • Cable routed along wall surface
  • Basement Structure:
    • White-painted concrete block foundation wall
    • Rim joist and floor framing visible above block wall
    • Existing wiring/cables routed along joists above
    • Rough opening in block where conduits penetrate

Sealing Note

The exterior side of the wall penetration (the larger drilled hole, not these conduits) was sealed by the owner using Liquid Nails and a scrap piece to prevent rainwater intrusion and rodent entry while awaiting the electricians’ return visit.
