Description

The double-gang switch box near the garage entry door, showing the newly installed soffit light switch by SLS Electric. One switch position is populated with a single-pole toggle switch controlling the 3 exterior soffit wafer lights. The second gang position is open and reserved for the owner to install an interior lighting switch as a DIY task.

Visible Elements

  • Switch box: Blue plastic double-gang new-work box mounted on exposed OSB wall sheathing
  • Installed switch: Single-pole toggle switch (left position) wired with yellow 12/2 romex — controls the 3 soffit wafer lights
  • Open gang: Right position empty with wire nuts visible — reserved for owner’s future interior light switch
  • Romex runs: White romex cable entering from top of box; wiring secured with wire nuts
  • Wall condition: Exposed OSB sheathing and framing lumber — pre-drywall condition
  • Entry door: Portion of the half-lite entry door visible to the left

Notes

This switch was the last item SLS Electric needed to complete. On March 31, the wires were run but the switch was not installed because the electrician didn’t have one on hand. The second position will be wired by the owner for interior garage lighting as part of the DIY electrical phase.
