Description

The first of the three switched ceiling outlets for the garage floor lights, now fully made up: a 4” square metal box on its bar-hanger cross-member, fitted with a mud ring and a 20A tamper-resistant duplex receptacle (T-slot neutral visible). The white cord plugged into the receptacle is the power cord for the Barrina LED fixture row; the yellow 12/2 NM-B entering the top of the box is the daisy-chain that runs between the three ceiling outlets. A second white cord and a second yellow run are visible at the bottom of the frame where the chain continues to the next box.

This is the receptacle that turns each ceiling box into a plug-in point — instead of hardwiring the LED rows, each row plugs into its own switched outlet, so fixtures can be swapped or pulled down for ceiling drywall without touching the wiring. The circuit was energized and all 15 lights tested on 2026-06-19 (all-lights-lit photo); this visit dressed out the boxes.

Status: basically finished until insulation & drywall

The ceiling outlets are wired, fitted with mud rings, and powering the lights. Remaining before this is closed up: the staple/securing pass on the bay runs (NEC 334.30 within 12” of each box), and the planned 15A breaker swap for the shared bay/stairwell lighting circuit before the 14/3 stairwell run is added.
