Security Camera Clips

2026-01-21 — Cement Blanket Slip & Fall #1 — Owner

Security camera footage of the homeowner walking across the snow-covered cement blanket path between the house and garage — forgetting that the blankets are hidden underneath. The smooth, angled blanket surface under the snow created an unexpected ice rink, resulting in a spectacular wipeout. Lost gloves, hat, and cell phone in the process. Dignity was not recovered.

YouTube Link: [https://youtu.be/NVLz8xF90PU]

What happened:

  • Owner walking across blanket path, unaware of slippery surface under snow
  • Hit an angled section of blanket and lost footing
  • Gloves, hat, and cell phone scattered on impact
  • A humbling reminder that the $250 blankets are still there, doing very little

Lesson learned: The cement blankets may not be thawing the ground, but they are extremely effective at thawing one’s pride.

2026-01-21 — Cement Blanket Slip & Fall #2 — Wife

Less than two hours after the owner’s fall, the same security camera captured the owner’s wife walking across the exact same blanket path — and suffering the exact same fate. Nobody warned her. In hindsight, this makes for an excellent pair of videos.

YouTube Link: [https://youtu.be/gxtc1IJkKaQ]

What happened:

  • Wife walked across the same blanket path ~2 hours after the owner’s fall
  • Same slippery blanket surface, same result
  • Both falls were frustrating at the time, hilarious in hindsight

Related context:

  • Cement blankets deployed January 15, 2026 for electrical trench thawing
  • Blankets have been snow-covered for most of their deployment
  • See Feb 6 update for current thawing status (spoiler: no progress)
